Christmas Time

Ohh Yay!  it is Christmas Time.  I would officially like to thank Amazon for making my life tolerable during these last couple of weeks.  The thought of having to go out and find presents for people makes me want to shove small sticks into my eyes.  Our hope was that our Christmas was going to small this year, and I think Mr. T. and I did a pretty good job.  This year I got him a bunch of small things he needed, and he got me something I have wanted for millions of months.  This year, the kids are getting 1 present from santa and a few presents from us.  I think it will be a nice Christmas on that end.

I am taking about 2.5 weeks off over the break.  I am actually off as long as Peanut is out of school, but I sent her to the daycare center this first week so I can finally get some things done around the house that we have needed to do for a while.  I am doing things like recaulking the bathtub and cleaning the oven, as well as big projects like staining and installing the cabinets and painting our bedroom.  I have made incredible headway these last four days.  I also realized that I can easily spend a day or 4 alone and not really notice the time is passing.  The only complaint I have is that I have been fighting a cold the whole break.  I know... poor me.

The kids have been really funny this year.  Peanut's request from Santa is that he just surprise her.  BabyP, however, wants all these imaginary and/or impossible things to get.  He wants a SkyTruck which is a truck that is black and has fire that shoots out of it when he zooms into the sky.  He also wants a vehicle.   A monster truck will work in this instance.  Actually, a monster truck will work in any instance.  I can't think of any problem that BabyP may have that a monster truck is not the answer for.

It is the 22nd and I have yet to wrap a present to put under the tree.  Peanut is starting to wonder if I am ever going to do it.  I have been busy with other things, and she can see that she has presents.  It has really worked out well though because I don't have to constantly tell the kids to get away from the tree.  The dog on the other hand, she has been eating the old salt dough ornaments.  I love our salt dough ornaments because the kids helped me make them.  Our dog has had some "issues".  She is 14, and her health is starting to give her some issues.  She is going out with style though.  She is just getting a little "crazy in the head".

So the threat of Santa Clause does not really work that well with BabyP.  He told me, "I don't care.  I don't want Santa to come see me."  Well okay.  I don't really have a come back for that.  That kid kills me because he can be such a turd, but then he can also be the sweetest little boy around.  When he gets in trouble at school, it KILLS him.  He is mortified.  At home, he would throw me the bird with both hands if he could.  (Lord, I am not looking forward to that.)

Peanut is sure to keep me straight with the advent calendar.  I came so close to buying one of those "Elf on a Shelf" things, but then I realized that I can't remember to put things in the advent calendar.  How am I ever going to remember to do an Elf on the Shelf?  My kids will be in tears because they will think that their elf is not reporting like he should.  Personally, I think the Elf on the Shelf will be more fun when they don't believe in Santa anymore.  Then he can just be naughty.  It would be a fun family gag.

Speaking of "believing" Peanut is starting to question Santa.  She asked me if Santa was real.  I told her to leave me alone because I was peeing.  That was the one instance where I didn't mind her barging in on me while I was.. well...  (What is up with that?  Seriously... you are 6!  How many times do I have to tell you?)  We watched some TV shows where kids didn't believe and that seemed to scare he back into believing in Santa.  Actually... she told me.  "You know how I know there is a Santa Clause?" me: "how?"  " because last year, a little bit of his jacket got caught on our fireplace on his way up the chimney.  That is how I know there is a Santa Clause."  Last year, I put some cotton on the surround to the fire place and told her Santa must have snagged his jacket.  It is funny that she remembers that.  I will need to think of something else to do this year to keep her believing.
